A 53-year-old man died from injuries incurred during a recent multi-vehicle accident in Henderson. The accident was the 11th traffic fatality in Henderson this year, and it was followed shortly after by a fatal motorcycle accident. The 2018 numbers are in keeping with Nevada’s trend of being among the top ten most dangerous states in the U.S. for car accidents. Read on for details about the recent accident, and contact a seasoned Henderson car accident lawyer if you’ve been hurt in a Nevada traffic accident caused by another’s negligence.

Driver fails to yield, wasn’t wearing seatbelt, dies after crash

On a recent Wednesday around 8:25 p.m., a 53-year-old man was driving a 2008 Ford Mustang eastbound on Warm Springs Road. He attempted to make a left turn on a yellow flashing yield signal and did not yield upon the approach of a 2016 Ford Fusion. The Fusion, driven by a 28-year-old-woman, had been heading west on Warm Springs and had a green light. The Mustang spun out from the intersection and crashed into a third vehicle, a 2012 Hyundai Electra, that was stopped at a traffic light on Valle Verde.

The Mustang’s driver was transported to Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center. He remained in critical condition for over a week, eventually succumbing to his injuries. Responders treated the driver of the Fusion for minor injuries. If it is determined that the Mustang driver’s failure to yield was negligent and caused the accident, his estate would be liable for any injuries suffered by the Fusion driver, as well as damage to the vehicles involved.

Dangerous year in Nevada generally, Henderson specifically

A couple of weeks after the three-car-collision, a 35-year-old motorcyclist heading north on U.S. Highway 95 crashed his 2019 BMW sport bike into a 2004 Acura MDX on the off-ramp to College Drive. The Las Vegas resident was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he died from his injuries the next day.

Per Nevada Highway Patrol statistics, the motorcyclist marked the 68th Southern Nevada traffic death in 2018. As of October 31, 2018, there have been 286 traffic fatalities across all of Nevada, 20 more than the 262 Nevada traffic deaths for the same time period in 2017. There were 303 traffic fatalities total in 2017 in Nevada.
